What are your motives?

"Your hope cannot be put in some dreamed-up future. It must be in the God who knows your past, present, and future, and loves you enough to give you the best." --from Lady in Waiting

This is the book I am currently reading to help myself grow even more towards depending on God, and also to help other girls grow that way too.

Last night I was reading about our motives. I have never put this much thought into it, but as humans we have really horrible motives more often than we even realize. The authors talked about how so many girls join ministries, churches, clubs, and other things with the sole purpose to meet Mr. Right. Now I know your thinking that sounds obsurd right? Well, how many times have you dressed a little bit cuter just in case you meet a new guy at youth? Or how many times do you think, "Oh no, what if I'm not there and this was the night we were going to talk to each other and fall in love." See, we do it so much and in so many different instances that we really don't even think about it as being a false motive or wrong. We think, well as long as I'm going to church I'm doing good right? False. Proverbs 16:2 says, "All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord."

So what motives do you need to check in your life? Are you going to church with the sole purpose of learning about God? Or are you going just to socialize with everyone and flirt with that cute guy? It's no wonder we are miserable so much! We put all of our time and effort into getting guys to notice us and nothing happens! Why? Because you have wrong motives and God's not going to bless you for that and also this guy you care so much about probably has no idea you feel that way because he's at church (you guessed it,) to learn about God!

I shall say it in almost every post, put God first and everything else will fall into place. Stop worrying about stuff and trust him. Phillipians 4:6-7
